SUP Halloween Jam

Ready for more spooky music? Our next jam on Sunday, October 25 is going to be even scarier! It’s the last jam of the month which means it’s an open mic/request jam! We’ve had some wonderful people step forward recently to lead songs and I would love to see more of you try taking over the mic. We’re a pretty friendly group so please, don’t feel intimidated. If you want to try something not in our songbook, just email it over to me at [email protected]. I also have a few requests for Sunday as well so jump into your favourite costume, grab your uke, and join us!

SUP Sunday Spooktacular

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Thanksgiving today! Even though I have turkey on my mind right now, I’m also gearing up for my favorite time of the year: Halloween! So, on that note (pun intended!), our next jam will have a Halloween flavor. There are four empty spots though and after the success of our September open jam, I’m hoping a few of you would be interested in leading a song. It’s a lot of fun to hear other people play so if there’s a song you want to lead, you are more than welcome to step up to the mic! You can choose one of the Halloween ones or something from our songbook. (If you want to do a song that isn’t in our book, you MUST email it to me in advance so I can share screen with everyone.) Here are the details:

October Uketorial

October’s uketorial will be on Sunday, October 4th at 3PM. We will continue working on tablature (aka tab) since it’s an invaluable tool for playing any stringed instrument. This time, we will look at Amazing Grace and Oh Susanna. If there’s time, I want to take a look at St James Infirmary. It’s a tricky one but it’s a great little song and worth spending time on.

Next Jam

Our next jam will be Sunday, September 27 at 3pm on Zoom. For the last jam of the month, I thought we could do another request edition. I would also like to open this jam up to anyone who wants to lead a song themselves or wants to perform something special for us. I know this can be a bit scary but performing or leading a song is a great way to grow as a musician. It forces you to set a small goal and work towards it. And we’re a pretty friendly group so please, don’t feel intimidated. Email us for login details! [email protected]

Tutorial & Jam Event

Our next jam will be on Sunday, September 13 at 3 PM Saskatchewan time on Zoom.

This session will be a bit different as I’ll be starting with a tutorial on how to read tab. It’s a great skill to have but it can be a little intimidating so I thought it could be a fun afternoon activity for those who want to learn or just can’t remember how to read tab and want a refresher.

The songs I’ll use are Lullaby (a new one) and Alona Waltz which are both in our songbook. After our mini-lesson, I’ll take requests for the rest of the hour. (From our songbook only, please.) If this works well, I’m happy to keep doing tutorials perhaps, once a month.
